CAMILLE TORRES
It is such a pity when jewelry lives most of its life in jewelry boxes. Like little hidden secrets rather than objects to be celebrated. As an artist, my goal is to create wearable pieces that aren't put away when not being used, but stand alone as sculptural objects.

Many of my pieces have multiple functions. In addition to being accessories, they may be a camera, a box, or an altarpiece. Constructed in sacred geometry, they act as homage to our myths and lessons of ancient religions. Much of my work is inspired by the natural cycles in life. Its subject intertwines nature and the human interaction within it.

The body is our altar that we adorn every day. When we don a piece that we love, something inside of us ignites, causing that piece to become a conduit for our inner light. I believe that my work doesn’t come alive until it has been worn. My process as an artist isn’t just about the creation, it’s about the way the creation is received. This is why I make wearable art.
